Khatamal Al-Quran

In this edition, we would like to introduce a tradition in Brunei ehere Khatamal Al-Quran, or in brief a ceremony held in conjunction with the completion of the recital of the 30 juzuks (main chapters of the Holy Book Al-Quran). Traditionally, the Khatamal Quran is held during weddings by the bride or the bridegroom accompanied by close family members. Today, the same ceremony is observed at end of school years or to mark completion of university studies by students.

On 1st September 2014, a Khatamal Quran was held by University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) final year students as part of their convocation. The Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Peg=hin Dato Haji Abu Bakar Apong, the Minister of Education.
